Costs of sending my stuff from Brazil to Australia

Hello,

Today I will give an update on the post What to get rid before leaving.

I recently asked the company G-inter for a quick cost estimation. I asked them to take in account a small list of goods: some musical instruments, a computer, and a TV. They answered my inquire promptly with a well written and polite e-mail. Unfortunately, the costs of sending my stuff to Australia are far higher than the value of the goods themselves. So I will obviously not hire them to do the job.

Service details

  • Maritime shipment
  • Customs management from origin to destination
  • Wooden liftvan (a big box) of about 3 m3
  • Weight 750 Lbs
  • Delivery at home address in Brisbane
  • Unpacking, placement, and package disposal

Costs

  • Shipment: US$ 4,060.00
  • Customs and taxes in Brazil: US$ 900.00
  • Customs and taxes in Australia: AUD 900.00
  • Assurance: 4% of the declared value
  • Estimated time: 80 days

Conclusion

  • You can notice that the provided service is quite complete. Once you hire them, you don't need to worry about anything.
  • Taking in account the information I could find on Internet and my first contact with them, I can presume that they provide high standards of service. I would certainly hire them if I were taking to Australia anything worth.
  • Sending goods to Australia is considerable expensive. I would not recommend anyone to do it unless you are taking something really expensive or something with sentimental value - which is not my case.
Cheers!
